There is no shortage of efforts on the Pendleton/IMGA campus to help the victims of the Haitian earthquake. Students, faculty, and staff alike are planning and participating in activities to raise money for the Haitian Relief Effort:
- Elementary School students raised $2,500 for the American Red Cross in a Hop-a-thon fundraiser; student Katie Forsyth was top hopper with 370 jump-rope jumps in 3 minutes and Lyla Dowhie was the top fundraiser bringing in $336.
- English teacher, Sandra Barton, took on extra work for two weeks and then donated the earnings ($1,056) to the HÔpital Albert Schweitzer in Deschelles, Haiti.
- Inspired by Sandra Barton's action, the Pendleton faculty and staff aim to at least match her $1,056 donation as a group by contributing their own money towards a collective fund that will then be forwarded to the HÔpital Albert Schweitzer in Deschelles, Haiti.
- You can find blue barrels at several locations on campus as collection spots for the Haiti Relief Fund Drive sponsored by IMG Academies. Particularly requested are jars of peanut butter and canned beans.
- Students donate $5 on Dress Down Friday for the privilege of not having to wear their Pendleton uniform. They are asked to wear the color red to signify support for Haiti.
- The History/Current Events students of teacher Charlie Kennedy and the elementary students are teaming up for Kickball for Haiti. For a small donation of one dollar, students and staff will be able to take 3 turns trying to kick the ball past the dedicated All-Star kickball field team.
